Cardinal Quest Soundtrack Review

2972264278-1 tmb

After some slight confusion, the official release for the Cardinal Quest Soundtrack by Whitaker Blackall Trebella has come out today. The soundtrack belongs to of course the game named Cardinal Quest which is based off classic games like Gauntlet and other games of the like. You can pick it up at Whitaker’s bandcamp site.

So let’s get to it.

The first 10 tracks of the soundtrack are made by Whitaker himself, with Forbade and What is this Place? being unreleased tracks, Woods and Cave  are from another tametick game called “A Most Peculiar Adventure“. The rest are remixes of the tracks from the soundtrack. We have Satsuma Audio, Disasterpeace, Joe Cavers, Charlie McCarron, Cain German, and of course Jeff Ball (not the Native American Flute player).

It’s Souleye’s birthday today!

The creator of the very awesome VVVVVV soundtrack is having his birthday today, so Happy Birthday Souleye. Souleye will be turning 65. (I’m joking Souleye.)

Also will have a new review for tomorrow. I’m starting to think Mon/Wed/Fri would be a better update schedule as I think 5 albums a day might be too much music coming too fast. Also don’t forget to tell your friends about the site. :D

Today we have a compliation of unreleased tracks from 2006-2011 by Jon Baken (AKA B4kn) who is one half of the duo George and Jonathan. The album was released as a Name Your Price album today (though it says tomorrow) and can be picked up at his bandcamp site here. Send a few bucks his way and I’m sure he’ll be grateful.

Hey! Guess what! It’s Josh Whelchel’s Birthday!

Yep, you heard me right. You can read the details at his blog via this link. Don’t forget to send him congrats e-mail or tweet. You can tweet at him @wtrebella.

Hyper Princess Pitch Soundtrack Review

Hyper Princess Pitch was released today, along with the soundtrack by Niklas Ström. You can pick it up for $4.99 at his bandcamp page.

Notes: Just to point out, all the songs on this album were made in MilkyTracker and a made to sound like it was coming out of a Gameboy with a guitar sample added in for good measure. So there’s not much point in saying for each song “It’s a chip-tune with a sampled guitar.” every song.

The Songs:

Antigravity by Zircon Review

Next on my list of albums from the many, many albums from the Indie game Music Bundle is the Antigravity by Zircon (don’t worry, there’s no viruses on his site.) The album was released May 10th 2007, so it’s been around a good while now. Zircon is a judge at the very awesome OCRemix and due to him having a lot of tracks on OCR I have been listening to his music for the last 7 years or so.

Extreme Road Trip Soundtrack Review

Okay, this is gonna be a short one, mostly because the OST of the game is so short. Here we have the Extreme Road Trip Soundtrack by Souleye of VVVVVV fame.

The songs:

First up we have the Title track. It’s a funky tune with some 80s sounding guitar thrown in. For some reason I keep thinking of a slowed down battle theme from Lunar: Silver Star when I hear the guitar kick in, just you know, with more realistic guitar sounds. Or I could just be going crazy…

Last Chance for Savings (Plus a bonus 4 albums)

Here’s your last chance for savings with the Indie Game Music Bundle! And as an added bonus for the last day, they have 4 new albums for people who paid $10 and over!  The 4 new albums are: Circle by C418, Cardboard Box Assembler by anosou, Songs for the Cure ’11: Remedy by Various Artists, and Undead on Arrival: Bytejacker OST by Hyperduck Soundworks. Get them while they’re hot, as they’ll be gone in a few hours.
