Diddy Kong Racing: Bootleg Circuit Review

Introduction: We got a remix album today. It’s Diddy Kong Racing: Bootleg Circuit by Benjamin Briggs. Now Diddy Kong Racing is one of my all time favourite racing games and one I hold dear to my heart. I played the living crap right out of this game. As an example, I beat every developer time with every available vehicle for every single level. Seeing a remix album, even though it’s only 5 tracks long, is a real treat. You can pick up Diddy Kong Racing: Bootleg Circuit at Benjamin Briggs Bandcamp page.

Mighty Switch Force OST Review

2892540887-1 tmb

…And we’re back!

This another one of those albums where I’m debating whether or not they are ‘indie’ enough to be reviewed on this site. When in question, I usually like to side with if it’s good music or not. So I figure since it ends up on the side of good music and it’s a Name Your Price album and he already had a soundtrack on the Indie Game Music Bundle, then today we’ll be going with Virt‘s new soundtrack, the Mighty Switch Force OST. You can pick up the soundtrack at Virt’s bandcamp here.

Astroman Soundtrack Review

1217050760-1 tmb

Now we have an album by Jeff Edward Ball. It’s the soundtrack to the game Astroman for the 360. Jeff also had an awesome track on the Cardinal Quest soundtrack I reviewed Wednesday. It’s a name your price album and can be picked up at his bandcamp site here.

Notes: This album has some long songs in comparison to other indie game soundtracks you’ve probably heard.

The songs:

Astroman Theme (main menu) is a symphonic start to the soundtrack. The brass sound a little genesisy in my opinion, which isn’t always a bad thing. Over all the piece is pretty decent.

Pxtone 2006-2011 Review

Today we have a compliation of unreleased tracks from 2006-2011 by Jon Baken (AKA B4kn) who is one half of the duo George and Jonathan. The album was released as a Name Your Price album today (though it says tomorrow) and can be picked up at his bandcamp site here. Send a few bucks his way and I’m sure he’ll be grateful.

25YEARLEGEND: A Legend of Zelda Indie Game Composer Tribute Review

Front (Legend) [Lisa Coffman] tmb

Well usually I won’t post a review about an album with non-indie game music in it, but for this I’ll make an exception.

Here we have 25YEARLEGEND: A Legend of Zelda Indie Game Composer Tribute (long title, I know) which is a Legend of Zelda remix album by some of the biggest names in indie game music. On the roster we have *deep breath* Big Giant Circles, C418, DisasterpeaceDong, HyperDuck SoundWorksJeff BallJosh WhelchelJoshua MorseLaura ShigiharaMagnus Pålsson, Mattias Häggström Gerdt, Air & Sea, MisfitChris Kozilek Gryzor87CTPLRMatheus Manente and Rekcahdam. Most of these people need no introduction and I have made several posts about ,most the roster’s work’s already (Disasterpeace, C418, Dong, Josh Whelchel, Laura Shigihara, Mattis Häggström Gerdt). Also a shout out to Mecha @ HyperDuck SoundWorks for helping out with the site on occasion (:D) who is also on the roster as well.

Waker Original Sound Track

I decided to post something a little more relaxing this time around as I’ve been having a pretty hectic time IRL. The OST was done by Disasterpeace.

This is the OST for Waker. It’s a sound track reminiscent of the quiet and soothing songs of Legend of Mana (at least to me anyway.) It’s pretty good and might give you a nice feeling on a crazy day when you just want everything to slow down. I’d suggest putting it on loop as it is a bit short.

To download the full album you need to go to the bandcamp page and then give it your e-mail to download.

Cave Story Remix Project 2

Against my better judgement from the lack of a response I’ve received from non-musician fans of IVGM, I’m gonna go with a test run of trying the site out again. We’ll see how it goes.

I decided that I might as well pick up right where I left off and review the Cave Story Remix Project2!

Unfortunately I can’t say this version is at the same par as the original.

Cave Story Remix Project

*** The MP3 links need to be replaced. It’s on the todo list.***

I got a real treat for you for this weekend. That treat is the Cave Story Remix Project!

Almost all your favorite tunes from Cave Story have been meticulously crafted into an awesomely mighty remixed indie game soundtrack! It has a little dance, a little chip and a whole lotta rock. You should be plenty pleased with this soundtrack as it comes with 3 discs in total, 2 being the soundtrack proper and the last being a bonus remix disc by k-wix.

Immortal Defense OST

Here we have the Immortal Defense OST by Walter Eres and Long Dao for Immortal Defense by Paul Eres.

The soundtrack has a very movie soundtrack feel to it, so if you’re one to like symphonic movie OSTs then you are sure to like the Immortal Defense OST!

Legend also has it that Walter Eres is infact the father of Paul Eres. Now that’s got to be one of the most awesome dad things to do ever, by helping to make a soundtrack for your son’s video game. :D
