Pxtone 2006-2011 Review

Today we have a compliation of unreleased tracks from 2006-2011 by Jon Baken (AKA B4kn) who is one half of the duo George and Jonathan. The album was released as a Name Your Price album today (though it says tomorrow) and can be picked up at his bandcamp site here. Send a few bucks his way and I’m sure he’ll be grateful.

The entire album was made using the Pxtone program made by Pixel (hence the name of the album.) As you can imagine, a lot of the album has a chip-tune like sound to it. But Jon throws a lot of hip-hop stylings into the music, making it a “chip-hop” album (Yes, I made up the term just now.) You’ll hear a lot of familiarity to the albums done by  George and Jonathan which include Beautiful Lifestyle and The Best Music. If you like those albums, you’re sure to like this compilation of tracks.

Song notes:

I don’t know what’s going on with Candlelight (Remix), but it’s not what i would consider good.

Symphony #1 – The Dawn of TragnaR is a REALLY long song.

Puppies & Kitties is the only song that really takes a step in a different style in the entire album, and it’s unfortunately the very last track. Reminds me of something you’d hear on the Genesis.

The Good:
Almost every song on the album was done quite well.
It’s a name your price album that’s at least worth a couple bucks.

The Bad:
A lot of the same through each song.
Gets repetitive in some songs.

My Favorite Tracks: OPNA Music #2 (Naruto Remix)Tale of Zordona Pt. IIPuppies & Kitties
